Embryos exported to Luxemburg

We are pleased to announce the private export sale of 25 embryos to Luxembourg through CONVIS, on behalf of Alain Molitor who runs a purebred Limousin commercial herd producing calves to be finished for the CONVIS beef brand. Due to part of his land now being used extensively, for which he gets special subsidies from the Department of the Environment, he has decided to run Aberdeen-Angus.

Reports from CONVIS say many breeders are already having great success with Aberdeen-Angus cattle in Luxembourg and there are now some 25 Angus herds with herd size ranging from 10 to 150 cows.

CONVIS, which is responsible for the maintenance of cattle herd books, performance registration and genetic evaluation and has its own beef brand, purchased embryos from Netherton to establish a herd with alternative bloodlines and higher performance figures.

Included in the shipment are embryos from some of the breed’s leading females with eight embryos from Netherton Fleur G413 who was Winter National Cow Champion last year and has been sold recently for £25,000 to Saville Angus and is by the Ballmachie and Netherton stock bull Netherton Mr Brazilian E377 and seven embryos from Netherton Annie H474, the top performance cow in the Netherton herd by the Genus bull Netherton Rader J527.

The remainder are sired by the Canadian bull HF El Tigre 28U and are out of Netherton Rachel G449, a top daughter of The Moss Mr Eshton D409 and Netherton Beauty J533, a maternal sister to Netherton Big Edition H460.

These embryos have been selected to produce easy calving progeny that will mature into easy fleshed and good maternal cattle capable of suiting their new environment in Luxemburg. We are pleased to be working with CONVIS with this project and look forward to seeing how the progeny perform.
