HW Angus Excel at premier sale with Netherton genetics

Though Netherton had no bulls forward for the February Sales our partners HW Angus whose cattle run alongside the Netherton herd had a successful day selling to a top of 7500gns and averaging more than 5500gns for their pen of bulls.

Our high selling bull was HW Boss R586 an August 2015 born son of Netherton Beauty M667 a high performance Ardrossan Admiral daughter which traces back to one of Canada's elite cows Big Sky Beauty 009 and sires by the TC Stockman 365 son Rawburn Boss. He was sold to the Aln Herd, Northumberland.

Also selling well was the easy calving bull HW Frederick R542 who stood second in his class and was a member of the Champion Pair of bulls and Reserve Group of Three. Sired by Netherton Freedom who was out of our 25,000 Winter National Cow Champion, Netherton Fleur G413 and out of Netherton Fleur H484 who traces back to our 2010 Supreme Champion at the Royal Highland Show.

Netherton Females head to Spain.

We are pleased to announce the sale of a group of females to Spain to start a new herd near Trujillo. Included in the shipment was Netherton Missie P792 sired by the 36,000gns and Royal Highland Show Male Champion The Moss Mr Eshton and out of a full sister to Netherton Mr Brazilian and Linburn Fonda a top daughter of Netherton Boston.

Netherton Females head to Spain.

A 11 month old Bull calf, BJ's Danger Zone 609 bought from an  embryo from W&D Mclaren, Netherton, topped a recent sale in Canada when he sold for $20,000 for a half interest.

Danger Zone was Bred by BJ Cattle Co who run 75 head of Angus for BJ Scheirlinck and family in Alberta who have also sold genetics to the UK and was consigned to the British Connection Bull sale of Angus and Herefords. He was bought by Dwajo Angus Alberta. 

Danger Zone is a son of Netherton Blackbird M712 who was senior female, overall senior and the native senior interbreed champion at The Stars of the Future Calf Show at Stirling in 2013.

She was in turn sired by Rawburn Rommel and out of our 12,000gns cow Netherton Blackbird B172. She is a full sister to our 2010 Winter National Show heifer calf champion. Blackbird B172 is also the grand dam of our 2012 Summer and Winter National Show Female Champion, Netherton Blackbird K544.
His sire was the top performance Australian Bull Ardrossan Admiral A2.

Netherton Marvel P796 sells for 6000gns

Netherton had a good day at the breeds May sale at Stirling with our only entry Netherton Marvel P796 selling for the second top price of 6000gns to Linburn Angus.

>Marvel is a son of the 36,000gns The Moss Mr Eshton who was also the 2010 Royal Highland Show Male Champion. His dam is a daughter of the breeds former record priced female Netherton Missie A114 who sold for 30,000gns.

We wish the Stevenson family all the best with their purchase and for showing continued faith in our programme following the success of there last stock bull Netherton Boston.

Netherton Genetics excel in German Sale

Netherton genetics were in high demand at the 5th Angus sale in Wertingen Germany.Selling for the second top price of €6500 was HW Augustus R547 from HW Angus.

Augustus, the youngest bull in the sale at 11 months, is a result of our embryo programme and was sold in a package of embryos sold to HW Angus sired by Netherton Mr Rader J527 and out of the high performance Netherton Annie H474 making him a full brother to the popular Genus AI site Netherton Americano M703.

Also doing well was Gear Miss Bride R343 from Mark Pilcher Cornwall who sold for the second highest female price of €3900. She is a daughter of our 2012 National Bull Calf Champion Netherton Big Ben M656 and out of a Netherton Archie J501 daughter.

Netherton genetics win in Germany

It's always good to hear how our genetics do for our customers around the world and last week a bull from one of our embryos sold to Manuel Hassler from Switzerland was crowned grand champion bull at  Hessischer Fleischrindertag, one of the top shows in Germany for his new owners PTR Bischoff GmbH Neukirchen and Ulrich Heinz Wherda. 

The bull was sired by Ardrossan Admiral and out of Dunira Blackbird G442, a The Moss Mr Eshton D409 daughter out of our 12,000 cow Netherton Blackbird B172.

Two Netherton bulls head to Lithuania

The Netherton herd is pleased to announce the sale of two of our top embryo bulls to Lithuania to start a new herd with females purchased from HW Angus.

The first bull Netherton Easter P816 is a maternal brother to Netherton Evita N734 the 2015 Royal Highland and National Female Champion. Easter is sired by the top performance Australian sire Adrossan Admiral.

Also heading to Lithuania is Netherton Kojak R844 a full brother to our 2014 National cow champion Netherton Karama K574 (pictured). Kojak was our highest performance bull from last year’s crop.

Netherton Heifers head to Romania

Netherton and HW Angus are pleased to announce the sale of a shipment of females to A & S International Romania.

They go and join Netherton Beauty P824 which was sold for €7400 at this year’s sale in Wertingen creating a new female breed record price in Germany.

Included in the shipment was Netherton Missie P814 who was our show heifer from 2014 and granddaughter of our former breed record price female Netherton Missie A114.

Netherton Evita N734 voted best in Europe

In the annual competition to find the best Angus in the World held by angusbreeder.net, Netherton Evita N734 was voted the 2015 Gold medal winner for Europe.

This competition is judged by pictures of champions from each country by four judges from around the world and the fifth judge being breeders on Facebook.

Evita was the first female in the UK to be female champion at both the National and Highland Shows.

Netherton genetics head to Italy

Netherton and HW Angus are pleased to announce the sale of a selection of females to Orazio and Claudio Trielli Italy, where they will join Netherton Black Arrow N765 who sold for 6000gns in February. 

Included in the group is a top The Moss Mr Eshton daughter, Netherton Fleur P794, who is out of our 2010 Royal Highland Show champion Netherton Fleur D334. 

Other Netherton genetics include Netherton Missie L621, a top daughter of HF El Tigre 28U and her Netherton Freedom heifer calf, HW Missie R494.

Netherton and HW Angus top World Secretarial sale in Mexico.

Netherton and HW Angus were humbled last night at the World Secretarial Meetings in Mexico when our lot in the sale the pick of the herd flush sold for the top price of $10,000.

The sale which included semen, embryos, bulls and heifers, was held on behalf of the Mexican Society and we were honoured to be one of only three international herds to be asked to consign.

The flush, which guaranteed a minimum of five embryos, was bought after spirited bidding by Jim Round of KBJ Angus from Alberta Canada.

We would like to thank the Mexican Association and all the bidders who showed enthusiasm for our programme.

Netherton Angus have bought two top heifer prospects which we hope will have a big influence in the future.

Our first purchase bought in partnership with HW Angus for the top price at the Canadian Angus Foundation sale for $17,000, was the pick of 120 bred heifers from Canada's top carcass herd Cudlobe from the Buldoc family.Our choice after visiting Cudlobe was Cudlobe Blacklass 103B.

Blacklass is not only a correct, feminine heifer, but her performance data is second to none being the top marbling heifer in Canada born in 2014, which will help advance our goal in producing high marbling Angus for our customers. She is a daughter of the top performance American bull PA Power Tool 9108.

Our second purchase was the high selling lot at the Carlisle October sales, Rull Frances R206, purchased for 8000gns.

This outstanding eight-month old heifer's pedigree combines two of our top families Missie and Frances, as well as being a daughter of the great female breeder Netherton Big Edition.

Netherton Mr Emblem N774 sells to Roydmoor Angus 

Netherton Angus is pleased to announce the sale of Netherton Mr Emblem N774 to Gina Barraclough, Roydmoor. 

This 22 month-old son of Rawburn Emblem is out of our Missie family which traces by to Miler Wilson Angus in Canada and was our show bull this year winning the male and reserve supreme championship at Drymen Show, first prize at the Angus Junior Championships and second at the National. 

We wish Gina all the best with her purchase for this young herd with a big influence of Netherton Genetics.

Netherton Evita takes Female Champion at National Show

Netherton had another successful Summer National Show winning the female and reserve supreme championship with our two year old heifer Netherton Evita N734, shown with her five month old heifer calf HW Evita R492 at foot. This follows on from them winning the female and reserve supreme championship at the Royal  Highland Show in June and the supreme championship at the Aberdeen-Angus Junior Championships at the NEC in July. Sired by Netherton Big Edition, Evita is Owned jointly with HW Angus.

Alongside Evita’s win, the Netherton and HW team had a successful day with all five cattle in the team coming first or second in their classes. HW Frances P827 followed on from her supreme calf championship win at the Angus Junior Championships a week earlier by taking the heifer calf championship and reserve supreme calf. She is by SAV Brave 8320 and out of Netherton Frances M697, herself a National Show heifer calf champion and along with her dam was Highland Show female champion both in 2013.

Evita triumphs at NEC Junior Championships

Netherton Evita N734 followed on from her female and reserve supreme championship at the Royal  Highland Show by winning the female and supreme championship at the Aberdeen-Angus Junior Championships at the NEC

Owned jointly with HW Angus, this two year old daughter of Netherton Big Edition was shown with her February-born heifer calf at foot HW Evita R492 who also won a second prize in her class. 

The Netherton and HW team had a successful day winning four firsts and two seconds in the five classes competed in, with HW Frances P827, a September-born heifer calf on her first show outing going on to stand overall champion calf. Sired by SAV Brave 8320 and out of Netherton Frances M697, who herself was National Show heifer calf champion and along with her dam was Highland Show female champion both in 2013. 

Also winning their classes was our Drymen Show champion and Netherton Missie P820 and Drymen Show reserve champion Netherton Mr Emblem P774.

Netherton wins Supreme female champion at the Royal Highland Show 

Netherton Angus celebrated yet another great Highland Show, this time with Netherton Evita N734, who is owned in partnership with HW Angus, winning the female and reserve supreme Championships in the Angus classes under judge Marion Tilson of the Wedderlie herd, before being part of the interbreed group of four champions and reserve interbreed group of three. 

This two year old heifer, shown with her heifer calf at foot, is by Netherton Big Edition H460, who has sired many of our top show females over the past four years. 

Evita was yearling champion at the Winter National Show and Black Beauty Bonanza in 2014 and female Champion at Fife Show earlier this year. 

Our other entry at the show Netherton Missie P820, a 12 month-old heifer owned by Karen McLaren, stood second in her class and took the reserve junior female championship.  

She is sired by the 36,000gns and 2010 Royal Highland Show male champion The Moss Mr Eshton D409 and is out of a Netherton Big Edition daughter. Missie was supreme champion at Drymen Show last month.

Netherton Evita N734 takes female and reserve supreme at Fife Show.

Netherton had a successful Fife Show with Netherton Evita N734 taking the female and reserve supreme at Fife Show. This two year old heifer, shown with her heifer calf at foot, is shared with HW Angus.

Sired by Netherton Big Edition H460, Evita was yearling champion at the Winter National Show and Black Beauty Bonanza in 2014.

Netherton takes champion and reserve at Drymen Show.

For the second year in a row Netherton Angus were champion and reserve at Drymen Show.

Taking female and supreme championship was Netherton Missie P820, an 11 month-old heifer owned by Karen McLaren. She is sired by the 36,000gns and 2010 Royal Highland Show male champion The Moss Mr Eshton and out of a Netherton Big Edition daughter.

Taking the male and reserve supreme was Netherton Mr Emblem N774, an 18 month-old son of Rawburn Emblem and out of our Missie family which traces by to Miler Wilson Angus in Canada.

Netherton set new female record in Germany.

For the second year in a row Netherton sold the top price animal at the Aberdeen-Angus sale in Wertingen Germany which sees cattle from many of the leading UK herds entered.

Leading trade and setting a new record at €7400 for a female in Germany was Netherton Beauty P824, the youngest animal in the sale, who found a new home with A and S International, Romania. This buyer has previously purchased three Netherton-bred bulls privately in April this year.

Beauty P824 is from our extensive embryo programme which has seen embryos and bulls sell into many European countries and is out of Netherton Beauty J533, a G13 Steel daughter out of Big Sky Beauty 009. Her most famous son was Netherton Big Ben who was the 2012 National Bull Calf Champion and now herd sire at The Moss.

Beauty P824 is by the country's leading performance sire Netherton Archie J501 who is the top bull in the breed for TI, SRI and 400 day growth, while still being in the top 10% of the breed for BW.

Our other entry in the sale was Netherton European N788, who sold for €5200, the sales second highest price and top price bull to new breeders in Romania.

He is by the now Rull Angus herd sire, Netherton Freedom L642, who is a high performance easy calving sire and out of a Netherton Trendy Man daughter.

Three Netherton bred bulls sell to Romania

Netherton Angus, along with our partners HW Angus, have sold three Netherton-bred bulls to Romania, marking a first for us and a continuation of our great trade into Europe for Netherton genetics.

Leading the shipment was Netherton Black Watch N776, a Netherton Mr Brazilian son out of our 2012 Summer and Winter National Female Champion, who along with Black Watch was sold to HW Angus as part of the deal, which saw them buy the entire adult portion of the Netherton herd. A maternal brother to Black Watch was sold for 6000gns to Italy.

Also making the trip to Romania was Netherton Barney N778 a HF El Tigre 28U son from one of our top donor cows, Netherton Beauty J533. Barney is a result of our embryo programme and is a full brother to Netherton Big Ben, who was the 2012 National Bull Calf Champion and now stock bull at The Moss.

The third bull to sell is one of the highest performance bulls born in 2014 Netherton Awesome P809 from the Annie family. This one is sired by the easy calving, high marbling bull Netherton Freedom L642, who is now stock bull at Rull Angus.

Herd sire sold to Rull Angus

Netherton are pleased to announce the sale of our senior herd sire Netherton Freedom L642 to Edward and Claire Jones' Rull herd in Devon. The Rull herd has fast built up to be one of the top herds in the breed, winning many shows with cattle heavily influenced with Netherton genetics.

Freedom is a proven easy calving sire by the top performance Australian bull Ardrossan Admiral A2 and is out of our 2010 Winter National Cow Champion Netherton Fluer G413, who went on to sell for 25,000. Her dam Netherton Fleur D334 was the 2010 Royal Highland Show Champion. Freedom’s first crop of calves have been sold into several European countries.

We wish the Edward and Claire all the best with there purchase and thank them for their continued faith in our breeding programme at Netherton.

Netherton Black Arrow N765 sells to Italy

Completing a fantastic two days at Stirling this month, our June 2013-born ET-bred Netherton Black Arrow N765 found a new home selling to Orazio & Claudio Trielli for 6000gns who are starting a new Angus herd in Italy. 

Black Arrow is by the high performance sire Ardrossan Admiral A2 and is out of the 2012 Winter and Summer National Show champion Netherton Blackbird K544, herself a Netherton Big Edition H460 daughter. Combined with his strong and proven pedigree, he combines a TSI of +47 and a SRI of +58, as well as an eye muscle area of +6.6. 

We we would like to wish to Trielli family the very best of luck with their purchase and look forward to hearing positive reports on how Black Arrow’s progeny will perform for them.

Netherton Kelso N768 takes reserve overall Stirling championship

Having shown him at every show he’s been to since he was a calf, we were delighted to watch Seonaid take the junior and reserve overall championship with Netherton Kelso N768 under judge Bob Lane of the Penguin herd. 

The September 2013-born Kelso is by the 36,000gns The Moss Mr Eshton D409 and is out of The Moss Florian B284 daughter Netherton Karama E368 and has been a successful member of our show team since he took the calf championship at the Summer National Show last year. He then went on to take the reserve yearling championship at the Winter National Show and then overall senior champion at the Stars of the Future Calf Show in November.  

Kelso then went on to sell for the top price of the day at 13,000gns to Messrs A L and D Irwin, Colchester, Essex, for the Bonshaw herd. We hope Kelso makes a great impression on the herd and we look forward to following his progress.
